Difference Tones

This is a detailed document of the tones generated by difference tones. Lots of redundancy in this in spirit of being sure of what I was finding. There is some slop in the way I have left some things, there is more work to be done in organization and in the work as I describe below. Call it a work in progress for now.

Hypothesis was that difference tones between the root and all of its chromatic pitches generate the overtone series based on some quick calculations I made on the first 3 or 4 semitones. It was imperfectly confirmed – too close to say that it is false, so I question the frequencies I am using in the Frequency column. This is probably based on equal temperament, not just intonation. I am still wondering if this is relevant to anything or if I have just taken the long route to discover why we have 12 pitches or something fundamental like that.

I can’t yet find a frequency chart of Just Intonation, if anyone has references, feel free to comment or message me. I will completely update this chart (and archive it as it currently is).
