About Borkovic Instrument Repair
I began servicing instruments in Waterloo, Ontario and continue to service much of Southern Ontario despite my recent large move to Montreal, Quebec.
My work began with and is sustained by setups, dent work, overhauls and the usual band instrument repair demands, but I have also built a large assortment of skills and tooling over the years from specialized requests that my customers trust me to learn. Silver plating, relacquering (including colour matching), fabrication, tool making and plate stripping are some of the jobs I have performed for my customers. I am an enthusiastic learner, prepared to learn new skills required for keeping all work in-house when possible. I experiment on test horns to be sure that all coming ventures are not tested on the precious instruments of my customers. Coming soon will be engraving, neck manufacturing, tube drawing and more, so please inquire.
I have gone further than is necessary for the demands of most private shops, but I love doing this and take special care to continually outdo myself. Please, take a look at my portfolio and if you like what you see bring me my next challenge, even if you just want a free quote.
Sent my saxophone in for Mike to fabricate a set of new forks. He did an excellent job matching the look of the forks to the saxophone and it plays like they were factory made. He also fixed a few minor problems that ended up with my saxophone playing 10x better, all for a very reasonable and extremely competitive price.
Mike always impresses! He has done a few jobs for me now, and all of them were extremely affordable, done within a reasonable time frame and were high quality repairs/builds. Also, if you need him to do any unconventional jobs, he will get creative and create a solution that will leave you more than happy. I will definitely always come to Mike if I need anything to be built for my instrument, or if I need any small repairs done. Thanks for the great service, Mike!
Mike has done quite a few repairs and cosmetic customizations on a number of my brass instruments. For my sousaphone and my euphonium he crafted beautiful wooden key caps out of purpleheart and ebony respectively. I bought a bass trombone that, by all rights, should be unplayable even in mint condition. He made its sticky, poorly crafted valves function as though they belong on a horn of far higher quality. His repair work is always done promptly, professionally, and with great precision while always being a pleasure to interact with. Over all, a fantastic craftsman with whom I highly recommend trusting any brass or woodwind repairs.
Mike has done several repairs now for me on my Selmer Alto and Baritone saxophones and has provided excellent service in a timely way. He is extremely knowledgeable and does quality workmanship. The prices were very reasonable as well. I definitely give him my full recommendation.
I make some of my work available independent from my repair work. Click the link to see my Etsy page to see the projects and products available for sale for saxophones and other instruments, such as exotic wood neck plugs, thumb rests, instruments stands, and key touches.
