This came in for a simple adjustment that needed a more detailed look. The octave pad on the neck was not sealing well and required a small adjustment to get it to make contact once again, but there was more detail involved as the octave mechanism that wrapped around the neck to reach the lever on the back was not very round and was skewed to one side. The result of a simple fix would be a neck that could only sit in one position, which is entirely unnatural for most players I think. I was able to modify this bar back into shape so that the player has something like 120ยบ of rotation (overkill).
Very nice sounding horn, it’s my first experience with a good King. Most King’s that I’ve played have been student models, including the very first horn I learned on, this was a pleasant overturning of my old prejudice against King’s.
