Clarinet came in for repairing issues in the top joint, ultimately meaning full repad of the top joint as well as the repair of a wood chip in the bottom tenon of the top joint. I happened to have a block of ebony to draw from and began work by squaring up the chipped part of the tenon to present a good bonding surface for the new wood. Once the new wood was bonded it took a lot of hand filing to get things in place. Unfortunately the Taig lathe was just barely too short to use under power but it made for a good and sturdy work holder. Finished with an assortment of very fine sandpapers. Happy with the final result and so was the owner.
